Accompanying mobility measures: Procedure and cooperation using the example of the closure of the A544

Due to the renewal of the Haarbachtal bridge, the A544 in Aachen has been fully closed for a total of 22 months since January 15, 2024. This affects commuters, residents and businesses. To reduce the negative effects, accompanying mobility measures have been developed and implemented in cooperation between the City of Aachen, the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Autobahn GmbH. The measures are intended to change the behavior of road users and reduce traffic at peak times. Specifically, this involves avoiding journeys, shifting journeys to off-peak times and using other means of transport. Thanks to the "clever mobil" program for corporate mobility management in the Aachen region, among other things, there are good basic conditions in Aachen.
