Hamburg's future public transport prioritization: A C-ITS concept to replace analog and digital radio

The city of Hamburg is a European leader in the development of a dynamic and demand-oriented bus priority system using Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). With the support of the European Investment Bank, Hamburg is implementing an investment program worth 64 million euros. By 2030, 600 intersections and 2,000 buses are to be equipped with C-ITS technology to improve traffic flow and offer passengers more comfort by reducing braking. In this presentation, Dr. Bernd Schober will explain how C-ITS enables Hamburg's vision for a city-wide transport transition and provide practical insights for cities seeking, developing and financing C-ITS solutions.
