In Vienna, the “Zero Emission Transport” pilot project of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce was launched at the beginning of June, in which companies voluntarily participate in emission-free commercial transport. Mayor Michael Ludwig emphasizes the importance of Viennese companies for climate neutrality in 2040 and praises the cooperation between politics, administration, social partners and companies.
The project aims to highlight the challenges and opportunities of emission-free delivery traffic in the city centre and to support companies in decarbonization. President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Walter Ruck, emphasizes the future orientation of Viennese companies and their contribution to climate neutrality.
32 companies from various sectors are participating in “Zero Emission Transport”, committing to emission-free delivery in the first two districts of Vienna and aiming for a 100% emission-free delivery quota in the long term. Wien Energie is supporting the participants by installing e-charging points in charging zones to improve the charging infrastructure.
The BFI Vienna University of Applied Sciences will evaluate the project in order to identify optimization potential and support companies in their climate-friendly transformation. The data obtained will be used to drive forward the development of climate-neutral commercial transport in Vienna.
Companies such as Österreichische Post AG and HEL-WACHT are participating out of a desire to operate sustainably and protect the environment and climate. Österreichische Post AG plans to deliver CO2-free throughout Vienna by the end of 2025, while HEL-WACHT is taking part in the project as a contribution to climate protection.
