Description

One of the central challenges of our time is the climate-friendly conversion of the "car-friendly city" based on multimodal, low-emission forms of mobility and mixed-use, green-blue urban structures for a diversified society. In order to cope with the associated increase in complexity in planning, holistic, informal planning tools have recently developed that take a holistic approach and consider transport in close connection with digitalisation and urban planning.

These include tools and methods such as digital city twins, which can support interactive planning processes of cities and municipalities on the basis of extensive static and dynamic data, as well as multimodal mobility concepts for regions, cities, neighbourhoods, road spaces or buildings, which think about spatial structures and mobility systems in an integrated way within the framework of cooperative processes. The lecture presents some of these new planning tools based on interdisciplinary projects in Freiburg and Berlin, among others.
