Description

The goal of sustainable mobility development is formulated in many municipal sectoral plans such as noise action plans, clean air plans, climate protection sub-concepts mobility and finally in mobility concepts. The central challenge is to anchor an appropriate understanding of mobility and the resulting integrated planning routines permanently in the everyday planning and actions of local governments – in interaction with local politics. Municipal mobility management provides the framework for action and, at the same time, the instrument with which a new model of mobility and new planning routines for sustainable mobility development are created. Municipal mobility management thus frames the classic areas of action of municipal transportation planning, infrastructure planning and operation, and traffic management. This is how the mobility turnaround can succeed. The German Platform for Mobility Management e.V. (DEPOMM) will discuss opportunities, challenges and practical steps for establishing municipal mobility management as part of municipal transportation planning with municipalities that consistently use this approach.
