E-loading curbs in Cologne: Idea - pilot - experience

E-mobility requires the development of sufficient charging infrastructure. This infrastructure must be developed in the context of legal requirements and highly competitive space requirements in urban areas. 

With this in mind, Rheinmetall has developed a charging system that can be installed in a completely space-neutral manner instead of a standard kerb. With this innovative solution, spaces in urban areas can be made available for the charging infrastructure. 

The city of Cologne recognized this opportunity early on and, together with Rheinmetall and TankE, launched a pilot project with 4 charging points in kerbsides. These were put into operation on April 25. Berthold Franz reports on initial experiences from this cooperation project with the City of Cologne.
